What Causes A Red Rash On Stitches Above The Eyebrow?

Hi, my son just had 4 stitches removed from above his eyebrow. Before the sutures were removed I noticed a red rash, the dr said it was from the bacitracin, so I stopped using it. Right now the cut has surgi strips on it... Today I noticed the rash has spread and worsened. It s now bumpy, no color, across his forhead and eyelid. Could this still be from the bacitracin? Or perhaps a latex allergy?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The rash could be due to an allergy to bacitracin. I suggest you consult your treating doctor for clinical assessment and definitive diagnosis of the rash. In case the rash is due to allergy then anti-allergic drugs will be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
