What Causes A Rapid Decrease In The BP Level While On Olmesartan Medoxomil And Amlodipine?

Taking olmesartan medoxomil and amlodipine for high blood pressure. Have noticed that when I exercise, after about 20 min, my blood pressure drops steadily, like to 77/42, and I have to quit. Worse in the outdoor heat. Seems like my vasodilation mechanism has gotten out of whack because of the olmesartan. What do you think, and what can I do? (The olmeartan-amlodipine combo works fine for keeping down by bp.) Thanks.

Hello,

Drop in blood pressure during exercises is called exercise induced hypotension. The condition is related to certain heart problems such as cardiomyopathies, valvular diseases, or can be result of vasodilatory medicines. Most likely your anti-hypertensive drugs are responsible for drop in your blood pressure during exercises. You can manage exercise induced hypotension by having proper hydration before and during the exercises and decreasing intensity of your exercises. Please, take enough rest in between workouts and try to avoid exercising in hot weather.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
