What Causes A Pus Filled Bump On Arm?

My abscess on my arm opened on its own so I squeezed a lot of the pus and blood fluid out, but none of that chunky pus because the opening wasn t veery big. I feel almost complete relief and no pain. I used a drawing salve twice a day and hot showers, I have been taking care of it and was going to go to the hospital till it started drain this morning, but I m just scared there is that hard chunky pus in there. How can I get that to drain? Or do you think it was just fluid pus. It didn t smell when It was draining and it just looks like a red lump that s semi hard. I don t want to go to the hospital, especially roday, and if I can take care of it myself plus It s not draining anymore I could push more out , so what should I do with it now

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pus filled bump on arm which occur because skin has increased sensitivity of getting pigmented and it is due to abundance of sebaceous glands in these areas. It could be due to hair follicle and bacterial infection as well. Need not to worry. Maintain complete hygiene of that area. I would suggest you to wash these areas daily with lukewarm water and body wash containing salicylic acid twice a day and apply cream containing azelaic acid which is good for pimples. If condition doesn't get well in a week then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like minocycline, steroid ointment and may recommend chemical peeling for pus filled lump. Take diet rich in multivitamins. Apply topical antibacterial ointment.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
