Hi, my son noticed one morning when we were laying down that I had a huge vein in my neck. I always had this but, it seems that on my hands, feet and neck they seem more pronounced. What is this and is there a reason to be concerned if it might perhaps be getting worse?
The large vein in the neck on the sides is external jugular vein. It is present in everyone and is a bit big vein. Not obvious always and becomes prominent when any neck straining is done. Not to worry. Its is not a pathology.
