What Causes A Popping Sensation Followed By Dull Kidney Pain?

I just felt a pop feeling in my left kidney area and then a dull pain came. When I move the pain gets worse. And I can t lay on my left side and when I lay on my right it hurts a little less. When I m still it s a dull pain barley there. I m scared alittle. Imy worried my kidney popped. I have had discomortgage in my kidney areas for years. I sit all day long going down the highway. So my organs get a beating. Its between my ribcage and hip.

thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Popping of kidney is not possible.. may it was a popping noise from nearby joint/ tendons of muscles / gases in bowels can make such noise. Your problem could be -
- In case you have some kidney problem with burning urine... the possibility of kidney infection would give a constant pain when lying on same side or a permanent dull ache all the time
here you need investigations to assess kidney involvement followed by treatment by a Kidney specialist.
- A muscle pull between hip & rib cage... which coincides with the kidney region.Disc problem with pinching of a spinal nerve at the site can cause chronic irritation of the muscle .. making it sore & pulled with certain movement Prolapsed disc won't allow sleeping on same side too(.This problem is also likely to be possible with your long travels on high way.)
It needs X ray of lumber spine for finding/ excluding disc problem)
