What Causes A Painfully Swollen Cut On The Nose?

A few days ago ive noticed a small cut on my nose, over the last few days i have noticed the problem increasing. The left side of my nose has increased in size and also the skin surrounding the nostril has been falling off. Its very painful and throbs alot. Its very red and swelled and occasionally a clear liquid will pour from my nostril, each morning i clean it and notice dry hard yellow stuff around my nose and sometimes it turns green, inside my nose is hard and swollen which all these problems make it very hard to breathe.

Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a local infection of the soft tissues on the nose. For this reason, I would recommend using a local antibiotic ointment. Some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR) are needed to exclude a possible infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
