What Causes A Painful Lump In Testicular Sac?

Hello,

I have developed a large lump in my right ball bag. It first noticed it on Wednesday when it was smaller and painless. It has grown significantly and has started to cause me pain.

I am going to see a doctor today (Saturday) if possible, and if not will have to wait til Monday. However, I would like to read up on possibilities before seeing the doctor. I live in a non-English speaking country so communication can sometimes cause problems, and added to that, previous experience leaves me not trusting doctors in this country much!

I am 31yo, 5'6" (168cm) tall, 80kg. I have no relevant medical history in this area.

If you could provide me with possibilities, I would greatly appreciate this. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, it could be a Hydrocele or a hernia coming down into the scrotal sac. These are the commonest conditions unless you have had some injury to the area. Does it increase or decrease in size with posture or straining, then it could be a hernia. If not, then Hydrocele is more likely. You should see your Doctor as you have planned who might advice you surgery which is a minor surgery and you can go ahead with it. Take care,
Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
