Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Painful Burning Sensation In The Left Breast?
I ve been having a rather painful burning sensation in my left breast for about one week. I have man boobs since losing 75 pounds and having open heart surgery several years ago. It s also tender to the touch but I can t detect any lumps. Should I be concerned about this?
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.
The burning sensation in your breast could be due to: - breast infection although no lump was detected. Physical examination and ultrasound of the breast can rule it out - as you have a personal history of open heart surgery, it could be due to possible cardiovascular issues. I believe you are having regular cardiac check up. If you have not done any check up recently, then I advise to get your heart checked now through ECG and echo cardiogram - neurological problems regarding compression of nerves coming from spinal cord to rule out by neurologist and x-ray of the spine (thoracal section)
You need to run these tests first to determine the right diagnosis before running into final treatment strategies.
All the best. Dr.Albana
