Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
yes thank you. I have noticed a bump on my back about a week a go and not it has spread. It has become painful and it seems more like it may be under my skin and the tissue around it is getting puffy and sore. what can it be and how can I treat this
A painfully swollen bump below skin can be a swollen lymph node which can be due to reasons like infection or decreased immunity. Other than that it can be a carbuncle or a swollen sweat gland. I would suggest you see a general surgeon see what exactly is it.
A general surgeon can be able to advise you further on its management depending on the underlying cause. If there is pus in it, there might be need to drain the pus but that will be decided by your doctor after doing the blood work and other few tests if needed. Your doctor might advice you some antibiotics for the same. So the best thing to do is see a surgeon and get it checked.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
