What Causes A Nodule Inside The Mouth?

I have a nodular inside of my mouth just past my lower lip on left side but very close to front. I believe it has come from sleeping and possible sucking that area (which has now popped out abit.)??? If I have it removed what will stop it from happening again?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain and the cause which you explained for the formation of nodule on the inside of lower lip it can be a MUCOCELE /MUCOUS EXTRAVASATION CYST.

It is caused due to trauma or injury to the minor salivary glands or their ducts located inside the lower lip leading to spillage of the mucous into the adjacent soft tissues leading to formation of a small swelling known as Mucocele.

A small mucocele mostly needs no treatment and it ruptures mostly by itself and heals gradually.

If it does not rupture by itself you have to get it removed by undergoing a minor surgical procedure.

There is another non invasive technique available known as LASER ABLATION to remove the cyst..

You can consult an oral surgeon and get evaluated and get it excised.

It does not recur until there is injury to the salivary gland or its duct again if it is mucocele.

Hope this helps..

Regards..
