What Causes A Marble Size Lump On My Jawline Below My Teeth?

Hi. A couple days ago I discovered a marble size lump along my lower right jawline below teeth level. I can feel it when I touch the outside of my jawline. Its about the size of a marble, hard and seems to move around in one spot. I was going to wait a couple weeks and see if it goes away and if not go in and get checked out. but Im really curious. Ideas?? thanks!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM. Understanding your concern. Lump on jawline between teeth could be because of abscess . Sometimes caries or infection on the surface of the tooth when left untreated reaches the tip of the tooth root and spread further infection and result in pus formation . This is called dental abscess which appear as a lump . I would suggest you to consult dentist for proper examination . Doctor may order X-ray of affected area to rule out condition like mucocele or skin infection . Doctor may perform Root canal treatment and prescribe antibiotics course . For now Do warm saline rinses several times a day and maintain proper oral hygiene by brushing twice a day . Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
