What Causes A Lump Under The Nose After Undergoing Dental Procedure?

About two years ago the back of my right front tooth fell off following a dental procedure. This left my front tooth very thin. I went back to the dentist that same day and he tried to restore some of the tooth with whatever that stuff is dentists use for fillings. That has eventually worn away, leaving me again with a thin tooth. I use toothpaste for sensitive teeth to try to keep it from hurting too much. Well, not long after this originally happened a knot formed just under my right nostril, on the inside of my mouth, right in the crease where my gum meets my lip. I had quite a bit of pain from this and assumed it was my tooht. I had my dentist do an xray and he found no decay, and everything looked ok to him. Over the next week or so I continued to experience pain, and then started swelling, and feeling very ill. I managed to get a ride with a family member to go see a good family friend (who is a periodontist--several hours drive away) I was very ill at this point, and could do nothing but sleep the entire trip there. He did one of those scans/xrays that go all the way around the front of your head. He did not see infection in any teeth either, but I was unmistakably ill. He said occasionally a tooth will be on it s way to being infected and I needed to follow up with my dentist after a few weeks to check it again to be sure it was not getting that way. He said I had cellulitis and put me on antibiotics. The antibiotics did help, but I still had a little sac of skin in the crease of my mouth up there that was tender, and I could feel a small lump under my nose, just over my teeth. It is not noticeable just to look at me. This spot will go through times where it doesn t bother me so much, then it will be tender for awhile... Well, here lately it has been very sore. I have been to the dentist for a cleaning within the last two months or so, and he saw nothing wring with that tooth. But I am hurting, and the knot under my nose is very tender, and seems to be bigger than it was. Sometimes I hurt up that side of my nose, and into my eye. IF this is not tooth related, then what is it? Did the cellulitis just not ever really go away? Could I have a cyst in my sinus cavity? What s up? Who do I go to for evaluation? I absolutely abhor Dr s. Haven t been to one in years. One tried to kill me once botching a cholycystectomy... so ... yeah... not a big fan here... took numerous surgeries and a lengthy hospitalization to get me fixed. In Texas, so no way to recoup any damages. I avoid Dr s like the plague.

hellooo...reading ur query and ur miserable time with the swelling i feel that it can be due to fronth tooth which had become thin..(infection beneath the root).if i were ur dentist i would have done rootcanaltreatment to your thin tooth and would have undergone a small surgical procedure beneath the root and get the infection removed from root and filled from outside(apicoectomy).but i can say that it all depends on the clinical condition and based on xrays(treatment mentioned by me nw was just based on ur symptoms having seen the clinical presentation and xray it may change).so now u have to do nice warm salt water gargle ..and meet another dentist(totally new dentist)and see for a second opinion..(always good to seek a second opinion).i must say DOCTORS ARE SOMEONE WAITING TO HELP YOU DONT HATE THEM...be cool and relaxed...hope ur benefitted something from this reply..have a healthy day!!!
