Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have noticed a lump under my tonsil on the left side of my neck. It feels about the shape of a kidney bean and is fairly hard. It seems to be attached to my throat because it moves up and down when I swallow. It s not painful to the touch and I have not had any other health problems or symptoms to speak of. I m 39, ex smoker, 5 9 170 and in overall good health.
As per your query you have symptoms of lump under tonsil which seems to be due to tonsilloliths or tonsillitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles thrice a day. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically or order CT scan and throat swab test. Doctor may prescribe viral culture test to rule out cancer like condition. You should avoid acidic and cold food or beverage and suck on sugar free lemon candy. Start with proper course of antibiotics along with preventive measurements. If symptoms keeps on persisting physician may consider tonsillectomy.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
