General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Ganglion cysts are the most common mass or lump in the hand and wrist. Ganglion cysts are seen frequently in the wrist but can occur at the base of the fingers or around the finger joints.

The cyst is typically filled with fluid, and it will feel very firm. They are not cancerous and, in most cases, are harmless. They occur in various locations, but most frequently develop on the back of the wrist.

Many ganglion cysts do not require treatment. Majority of them resolve on their own over time.

Your doctor might recommend the home treatment options like Over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen (Tylenol), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) can relieve pain.

If the cyst is causing pain or interfering with joint movement, your doctor may recommend Immobilization, fluid aspiration or surgical removal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
