What Causes A Lump On The Penis?

Hi, my partner had a small cut on his penis a few weeks ago, which healed fine. In the last week or so his noticed a small lump there. It s slightly painful to touch. He does sleep naked and we do have a cat that sleeps on the bed, so it s possibly that. However, in the past (before we were together) I had genital warts and am worried he may have it too, although I did receive treatment.
