What Causes A Lump On The Opening Of The Anus?

Hi, I am a 30 year old female and after using the restroom this morning (a BM) as I was wiping I felt a little discomfort, I stood over a mirror and noticed a pea sized lump, kind of hard (almost like a small marble is under my skin) purplish in color on the outside of my anus. It doesn t itch and isn t painful unless I push on it (I honestly thought it was an ingrown hair that needed popped or something) so when I tried to squeeze it nothing came out but it was a little tender, can you please advise

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
What problem you are having in the anal region appears to be mucosal hypertrophy or hemorrhoids.
It is difficult to diagnose and treat unless it is examined per rectally.
Kindly consult Surgeon in this regard for clinical examination and appropriate management.
In the meantime, avoid constipation by taking soft and fibre rich diet. Drink good quantity of fluids.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
