What Causes A Lump On The Head After A Head Injury?

Hi, my 17 month old fell on the back of her head while trying to climb up a ladder. It was about 2 steps up when she fell on her butt first & then her head. This was yesterday, however today I noticed a soft spot on her head, not necassadily where she hit it. I instantly panicked. Her pupils are fine, no vomiting, no restlessness. She is completely normal as far as I can tell. Should I take her to ER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
dear
if we find there is no sign or symptoms of head injury then it is ok,we need to observe the baby minimum for about 48 hours. For any doubt within that we can consult and proceed for investigation
However the lump might be due to a hematoma(blood getting collected under skin) which can easily be treated by giving ice cold compression .
The cold compression is the best medicine for the kids as they often have such falls .
Mean while for pain or discomfort a mild analgesic syrup will do if needed.
Hope this helps
moost welcome for further querries
