Hi, I am a 25 yr old female, and I just noticed a lump on the back of my head/ neck area right on my hairline, hurts to the touch and little when I move my head certain ways. The lump is hard and doesn t move around. I m nervous about it, I ve had many health issues pretty much my entire life so with my luck I m wondering if it could be something serious.
Hi ! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Although it might not be possible to diagnose the condition without a physical examination of the lump, from the history it seems that it is an inflammatory condition. If I were your doctor, after a clinical examinatioin of the lump, I would advise you for a complete blood count, a blood sugar, and possibly a FNAC of the lump. Till the report of the investigation arrives, I would start a broad spectrum antibiotic along with an anti inflammatory drug for a symptomatic relief. It might even get better if the antibiotic is appropriate for the organism causing the infection. Further management would depend on the reports of the investigations.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
