What Causes A Loose Gum Flap Around A Fallen Tooth?

Hi, my cainine got knocked out a lot Work but I believe it was a baby tooth as it has been loose for a few years but not to the point to where I could just pull it. Not that it’s not there, there is what looks like to me a part of my gums hanging. It’s not painful but it’s uncomfortable sometimes and I know it’s there. What is this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is a benign condition & the gum flap should disappear when it stops getting the blood supply. However, visit a dentist & get examined. You can get it removed by laser surgery if its giving discomfort but before it you will have to go through a few investigations. In the meantime take care of your dental health. Do not try to remove it by your own-self. Use antiseptic mouthwash & prevent any bacterial infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
