What Causes A Large Red Bump On Vagina After Waxing?

Hi! So I always get a Brazillian wax, and a few weeks after my last one, I had gotten a big red bump on the top of my vagina... Now it seems like a big pimple that is under the skin because there is no head, or anything like that. It s just hurts when I touch it, red, and a little larger.I thought it may be an ingrown but I haven t seen any hair follicle there at all... so I m just wondering how I can get rid of it? Thank you!!

Hello,

Large bump on the vagina is commonly caused by ingrown hairs, fordyce spots, vulvar, vaginal cysts, Bartholin's cysts etc. You should clean your private are with soap and warm water. To relax post waxing bumps cold compress it for relieve. You can apply aloe vera associated cream or Soframycin cream for soothing effect. Discomfort should go away in 24 hours if not, get clinically examined by a gynecologist or GP.

Your treating doctor may take few tests (STD tests if sexually active) detect cysts, abscess or any other pathology. You will be treated (by medicines or minor medical procedures or surgery) according to the pathology detected. To get rid of the hurt you can take Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, one SOS when needed. In case of infection you may need a course of antibiotics / antivirals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
