What Causes A Headache, Sore Neck Pain, Eye Irritation And Focusing Problems?

I hit the top back part of my head 2 days ago, I hit a marble counter, I think it hit it hard, but the pain went away immediately, I did not pass out or have any vision problems when it happened, but today i have a slight headache, there is a subtle pain in my neck (feels like a soar neck) and when i watch tv or look at the computer screen and something moves fast, my eyes feel kind of irritated, (not so much dizzy, just feel as if im tired and they have a hard time focusing, I get the same effect when I have a fever) Im wondering if this is serious, or just a side effect

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. As you are conscious, oriented, able to do routine activities and there was no loss of consciousness, visual blurring and no severe headache, it means you had mild head injury. It is good that injury was mild. Mild injuries usually recover on its own in 10-14 days.

Now coming to your complaints of neck pain, slight headache and increase in pain after visual straining (bright light exposure from TV/laptop, reading), it can occur for few days after head injury. Visual straining leads to eye muscle spasm which can increase head pain. These symptoms can be controlled by following few tips

; Avoid bright light for few days
; Apply icepacks at injury site
; You can wear sunglasses while going out in daytime
; Use number glasses while reading (in case of refractive error)
; You can take painkillers like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription
; Bed rest
; Avoid pressure at injury site
; If still no relief, you should consult doctor.
; Neck massage at pain site

Hope it will help you. Take care.
