Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a smallish round bump behind my ear for a couple weeks now. At first, I thought maybe it was due to the ear piercing i had recently acquired. Maybe due to a slight infection. But it hasn t subsided. Not to mention, that it isn t soft. It is harder. Not sure if it moves. if so I d have to push hard, but I m not going to try any harder than I have.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain round lump behind the ear seems to be due to Post Auricular Lymphadenitis that is swollen post auricular [meaning behind the ear] lymph nodes..
They can however take a longer time to resolve even after the infection subsides..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to take a script of antibiotics and also do alternate warm and cool compresses over the swelling..
In case if it does not show signs of regression in 2 to 3 weeks, get a biopsy done for ruling out the exact reason and get treated accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
