What Causes A Hard Lump Below Cheekbone And Swollen Jaw After Injury On Face?

Hello, I had a fainting episode, about 3 weeks ago, in which I lost consciousness and feel on my face. Surprisingly the facial trauma wasn t too severe mainly a few abrasions by the nose bridge and a swollen jaw on the lower right near the cheek bone. I have developed a hard mass just below the cheek bone, that appears to be some kind of cyst or lump. I was wondering if this was cause for concern, and if it will go away on its own, or keep growing? There is so mild sensitivity too the touch. But other then that is painless. Thanks

Hi dear ,

As per your query you had facial injuru and after injury you devolved hard lump . Well this is very common thin after injury . The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as hematoma . A hematoma is a larger collection of blood, usually caused by injury, or trauma. Hematomas will usually reabsorb into the body . In case it doesn't resolve surgical procedure will be needed . I would suggest you to apply heat compresses fo 10-15 mins 2-3 times a day and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling . I condition persist for more then a a week the consult oral surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order X-ray of affected area to rule out condition like jaw fracture . Doctor may perform minor surgery to correct the condition .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
