What Causes A Fluttering Sensation In The Upper Abdomen?

I have an unusual fluttering in my upoer left abdomen that seems to momentarily cause my shoulder and arm to vibrate. It s happened before, but today it s happened maybe a dozen times or more, each spasm lasts about 3-5 seconds. Any idea what might cause something like this?
