What Causes A Dull Pain In The Lower Pelvis?

What causes a dull pain in the lower pelvis/abdomen? It comes for a few days at a time, then leaves. Symptoms occur about once every other month. I have had an xray to rule out any problems with my hip. I m hoping it isn t too serious, like colon cancer, but have been considering a colonoscopy. I am a 38 year old female. Thank you.

There is a dull pain in the pelvis, off & on after few days , may be due to these possibilities , these include.
1 Ulcer or cancer in colon , so get in colonoscopy for confirmation.
2 As you are 38 years female , so this type of pain may be due to "osteoporosis " . Diagnosis can be confirmed by estimation of blood for calcium level as well Vitamin "D3" .
3 Chronic osteomyelitis is another such cause of chronic pain . Diagnosis can be confirmed by C T SCAN of pelvic reason ( however this is a rare possibility because pain is on both sides but if pain is on one particular side go for osteomyelitis ).
Also get in blood for C B C, E S R ( if very high > 100 mm 1st hour ,think about chronic infection).
