What Causes A Delayed Period With Negative Pregnancy Test?

Hi I am 39, my period is three days late.it is always on time I have very bad gas burping and passing gas, I had back pain the day my period was due it felt like pinching nerves. I have waves of nausea. I took four pregnancy tests they were all negative also i had a tubal ligation six months ago.

Thanks for posting your query. In the current scenario, it is unlikely that you could be pregnant since you had a tubal ligation. There may be a transient hormone imbalance which is self-corrective and your symptoms are possibly premenstrual. Also, home pregnancy tests cannot read well before 3-7 days after the missed period. For an earlier and better clarification, you can get the estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres. A sonogram of the pelvis, preferably in the trans-vaginal route clarifies the issue. Hope this helps.
