What Causes A Burning Sensation In A Broken Ankle?
My mom has broken ankle - three broken bones. She is in cast now - uses crutches - fracture is 1 week. The doctor said that now bones aren t dislocated. She has burning sensation in place of fracture. Does it show a problem or it s normal. She is 63 years old.. Thank you
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I can understand your concern for your beloved mom. The burning sensations in place of fracture are suggestive of 'pinched nerves' (nerve compression) which appear to be due to direct compression by bone ends or plaster pressure, indirect compression of oedematous tissue or cast, or reduced blood flow. She needs to be re-evaluated by her treating orthopedic surgeon and probably by relieving cast pressure and physiotherapy would help to solve her problem. Best regards.
