Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My foot is swollen, a bruise on top of my foot covering the top of foot to base of toes, like someone has stood on my foot. Feels like I have a pea under my skin and when pressed really hurts that s the only bit that hurts but a huge bruise around the area
Your history is indicative of a small abscess pointing through the fascia of the foot hence presenting like a small lump but the infection causes bruising and swelling to spread all over due to dependent area of drainage and structure of foot. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor for preliminary examination and investigations of blood and MRI of the foot. MRI of the foot will tell every detail needed for proper management. Get a referral for a General Surgeon to get started on appropriate prescription based medications and surgery if indicated. Till then keep the foot and leg in an elevated position above the heart level to reduce the swelling and pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
