What Causes A Blood Clot On The Bottom Of The Tongue?
Hello doctor. Just now I saw blood clot on the right bottom side of my tongue. It was not there in morning when was brushing my teeth. But suddenly I am seeing such a big blood clot. It is as big as a peanut. Its not paining but I am really worried. what could be this?
As per your complain a blood cloton underside of tongue can either be a Hematoma caused due to any traumatic injury to the tongue leading to ruptured blood vessels.. It can also be due to Mucocele formation that can occur due to ruptured duct of minor salivary gland.. For confirmation a clinical evaluation is needed so you should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.. In case of Hematoma it is self resolving.. For Mucocele doing concentrated salt water rinses will help.. If does not improve surgical correction is advisable..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
