What Causes A Black Line In The Finger Nail?

Hi doctor, I am 23 years old. There is a light black line flowing vertically in my index finger last 1.5 years. I do not feel any pain. If I see through the nail, I find it only on the nail. (Not in my finger part inside) there is no Hutchinson sign . will this be a sign of vitamin deficiency? It is not widening. Or it is a benign melanonychia?? I am worried with the internet stuff. Plz help me.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have black line in the finger nail. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like nutritional deficiencies or imbalances such as too much selenium, melanoma, internal bleeding, zinc or copper imbalances or tumors growing inside you . There are many different causes of dark streaks running up a nail that range from nutritional imbalances as well as aging, arthritis, and toxins, even too much blood thinning from a combination of oils, liquid garlic, vitamins, and other supplements that are blood thinners and out of balance. I would suggest you to eat healthy and drink plenty of water . If condition doesn't' get better then consult general practitioner for proper examination and treatment .
