What causes a UTI after alcohol consumption?

Hi I have noticed the last few times I ve been drinking the next day I will get a UTI. And now ll it takes is a few sips of alcohol and I can feel the uncomfortable urge to frequently pee. I have also tried different types of alcohol to see if thats what caused it but it doesn t matter. I don t understand why it happens.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Alcohol doesn't cause UTI infection but it can cause irritated bladder or interstitial cystitis.
The solution is to stop drinking.

Please can you advise me. I periodically get pains in my pelvic area, which are increasing in regularity. I have an increased urge to urinate and I feel that I have the start of a UTI, although I have recently had a culture taken that showed no abnormality. The pain in my pelvic area is quite severe and lasts for about and hour then diminishes. This pain is really beginning to worry me as I never know when its going to happen. I have noticed that it may be worse after drinking alcohol. At times I am constipated and I also think that this may make the pain worse. I am currently dieting although finding it difficult to lose weight. Thank you

I had UTI 3 weeks ago and was ordered to repeat urinalysis after my antibiotics. Bacteria and pus gone but now had RBC +1 in my urine which has increased to +3 after 2 weeks. My KUB ultrasound result is OK, no stones nor abnormal findings. What could be the cause? I have also undergone hysterectomy a year ago. so, could that be the cause?
