What Causes UTI Symptoms Inspite Of Using Antibiotics?
I have had symptoms of a UTI and went to the doctor, finished the round of antibiotics but my symptoms got worse and was told to go to the ER. I am Epileptic and one of my meds is known to cause kidney stones. My left side of my back hurts very bad and the pain radiates to the front of my tummy. I have burning on urination and it burns even after I stop. Labwork came back with no infection and CT scan stated that I was backed up with stool way up inside me. I was given a prescription laxative. My discharge paperwork states, however, that this was just an initial reading and that a specialist would read the CT scan and call me if there was a different diagnosis which has me worried as I am not bloated and have used the bathroom. I am also confused as to how this would explain the urination problem.
sometimes UTI is caused by bugs other than usual ones in which case your typical antibiotics don't work and UTI persist, that requires treatment with a different antibiotics. but in your case your lab work came to be negative which means you could have a stone which is causing your pain, and stones sometimes cause repeated infection as the stone is a nidus for the bacteria. your CT will confirm the presence of absence of a stone.
