What Causes UTI Along With Rashes On The Arms And Legs?
My mom is 85 years old. She has always been strong and healthy with no conditions or medications. In 2014 to 2016 she was suffering from internal bleeding and was finally diagnosed with a medium grade tumor in her lower intestine. Then 8/16 she developed shingles on her face. We had to wait until shingles cleared up and finally removed the tumor 10/1/16. Since then, she has had 0 appetite and lost 10 pounds. Very slow recovery. She has lingering nerve pain on and around shingle area. Started to complain of muscle aches on arms and legs. Very painful. On June 10, 2017 she came down with pneumonia. While on the prednisone and antibiotics she regained her appetite and improved from nerve and muscle pain. But, on July 17 relapsed with pneumonia. Since the pneumonia she has been dealing with ongoing fevers 99 to 102 temps. Every day to date. One 7/27/17 she had temp of 104.5 and was hospitalized again. They have taken blood that shows high white count. UTI infection and dehydrated. More antibiotics and fluids. She has blotches on both arms and a little on her legs but doctors cannot explain. They do not itch. Bad taste in her mouth and zero appetite. Chest xrays are clear of pneumonia. They drew blood and replaced white cells while scanning but nothing definte to show cause of problem. Today they took skin scrapings. They are giving her fluids and antibiotics but don't know what they are treating. Any idea what we are dealing with?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There can be various possible explanations for the same as host immune response to underlying inflammation, gut issues manifesting as skin conditions or others.
I would like to have a clinical photograph with all reports done till now as an attachment in follow up session for further guidelines.
Thanks
