What Causes SGPT And SGOT Levels In Blood?

Hi my sgpt and sgot test result is some more high sgot(ast) 47.0(15-37) and sgpt(alt) 135.0(30-65) and tsh 6.80(0.350-5.50) but my ft3 and ft4 test result is normal range dr doest not prescribe any medicine for that. Yesterday I consulted to some other doctor after seeing the my test result done earlier, he prescribed me thyrox 25 mg one tablet daily and udiliv 150 mg twice daily for one month. Do I really need to start this medicine or not. Or should I need to consult some other doctor.or if I start this meficine then is there any side effect or not. Please help me on this.

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

I want to know-
- for what symptoms have you undergone these tests.
- Your height, weight, BMI.
- Any yellowish discoloration of eyes, skin, urine.
- Alcohol intake.
- Are you taking any medicines.

Your elevated Liver enzymes may be due to -
- Alcohol induced.
- Obesity : part of insulin resistance syndrome, NASH (Non Alcoholic Steato-Hepatitis).
- Drug induced.

You can take Tab Udiliv for it safely.
Watch for any signs of jaundice, vomiting, abdominal pain if this occurs seek immediate medical help.

*If you are obese try to modify your lifestyle.
- Reduce weight.
- Follow calories and fat restricted diet.
- Follow Regular exercise.
- Get OGTT (Oral Glucose tolerance Test) with serum insulin level done.

Your thyroid function test denotes subclinical hypothyroidism.
Subclinical hypothyroidism may require treatment if there is -
- Symptoms of hypothyroidism present like weight gain, lethargy, constipation, joint pain.
- Infertility.
- Thyroid swelling.
- Pregnancy.

Usually thyroid supplement rarely have any side effects. You can take Tab Thyrox safely.
