What Caused Cold Symptoms And Bumps Near My Uvula?

I have cold symptoms, congestion, sneezing, ear pain, no sore throat or fever, but a band of small clear bumps about 1 1/4 in wide across the area just in front of the uvula. They are extremely painful and make swallowing difficult. Ibuprufen helps a bit as do warm or cold. I have had the bumps for two day and the cold symptoms for 4. I am 55 years old and in pretty good health otherwise.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms you have an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection and it seems to be Viral in nature. The bumps over the uvula are also due to infection and inflammation is leading to pain and swallowing difficulty..
Nothing to worry, you should continue taking Ibuprofen as it is anti-inflammatory painkiller and will reduce pain as well as inflammation..
For congestion you can take Pseudoephadrine containing medicine.
Commonly there is a secondary bacterial infection along with viral so a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin or Augmentin can help..
Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day..
Suck on throat lozenges..
Take a soft and bland diet.
Steam inhalations and using a cool mist humidifier in your room will relieve..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
