What Caused Bumps In The Back Of My Tongue?

A little over a weej ago I experienced pain in the back of tongue. It was very red and later, bumps on the back of my tongue developed. The pain has since subsided, but the bumps are still there. I now have the sensation of something lodged in the back of my throat. It does not hurt, but is extremely irritating.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems that there is inflammation and swelling of Circumvallate Papillae which are presnt over the back of tongue in a typical "V"SHAPED pattern and any irritation to them like due to burning of tongue with hot foods, throat infection, acid reflux, Oral infections like Thrush can lead to swelling of papillae.

Nothing to worry as gradually the swelling will reduce and feeling of something struck in throat will also subside..
You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.
Do warm saline gargles.
Avoid hot spicy and hard foods..
Drink plenty of water.
Suck on ice pops..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
