What Cause Uneasiness In The Abdomen After Eating Starches?

Over the last few months when I try to eat starches or carbohydrates ( bread:potatoes:rice & noodles ) my stomach seems to very quickly spasm and fill with a clear mucous like substance. I get the strong sensation to try to burp up the clear mucous like liquid along with the little bit of food I just swallowed. If I try to drink something it feels as though my stomach is blocked / overfull even though only ingesting a very small amount of food.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to gastritis.

As a first line management you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
