What Cause Severe Back Pain After Knee Replacement?

I had a rt total knee replacement 16 months ago . Since I have started walking without a limp I have been experiencing severe back pain extending across into my rt hip upon any minimal activity. This weekend on top of this I have been experiencing agonising pain upon walking in my rt groin /vagina muscle area ,much worse walking on a decline or incline. What could be causing these symptoms . I am 48 years of age and feel like a crippled ,miserable old woman . I had a back lumbar X-ray 6 months a go that showed early degenerative changes in my lumbo sacral area, but surely that s nt enough to cause such pain daily Please advise

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.
Due to compression of this nerve root there is pain in your hip and leg.

I will advise you to do MRI spine
For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started.
Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

There may not be any relation with knee replacement and back pain.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
