My 2 year old son has recurrent fevers about once a quarter where he has some symptoms of a cold but the fever lasts more than 2 or sometimes 3 days. He had diarrhea and one bout of vomit when I first noticed his fever, but other than that he hasnt had other symptoms. His stools have firmed up, no more vomit, still fever 102/103 range. We visited the doctor and she took blood sample and it was determined his WBC was normal, but he was slightly anemic where levels decreased since Nov, normal in Oct. The doctor ordered a CBC and Ferritin test. Could this be a sign he has something more serious? She said the test we did in office also indicated he had small red blood cells. To my knowledge, I was tested for sickle cell in college and it was negative. My husband is not sure if his sickle cell status and his mother s sisters have lupus (perhaps his mom too). Could this be cancer, leukemia, blood or autoimmune disorder?
