What Cause Pain In Back And Buttocks While Lifting Heavy Objects?
How do I know when to go to the dr I think it's my sciatic nerve but not sure. I feel ok until I start doing housework yard work or at my job with lifting patients. I get horrible pain in my back by my butt cheeks that paralyzes me. Now I feel a cold sensation by my tailbone. What could this be and how can I get relief no medications have helped only rest.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Pain while working and lifting weights can be due to musculoskeletal disorders or nerve related disorder. Is there history of trauma or abrupt bending? The pain described by you is probably not due to sciatica. Sciatica is characterized by pain starting in buttock region and radiating to back of thigh, leg and then foot. The pain described by you is not radiating and is limited to buttock. It is not possible to diagnose the condition on the basis of the symptoms. A MRI of the back is suggested to look for any lesion in the spinal cord. I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for clinical assessment, investigations and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
