What Cause Nosebleed After Nasal Cauterization?
Hi, I m Martha Waters, I just had a nasal cauterization yesterday on the septum side of my nose for nosebleeds. The Dr. said to leave it packed with antibiotic ointment/cotton for 2 weeks!! it is driving me crazy! My nose runs and it s very uncomfortable. Is it ok to keep it covered with antibiotic ointment and use Ocean saline spray instead?

The pack is kept so that the wound gets enough time for epithelization to cover the blood vessel so that it does not bleed again.
Yes, certainly you can keep the area open and be smeared with and antibiotic ointment.
Only thing you have to be careful not to disturb the area, do not remove the scab otherwise bleeding can start again.
