What Cause Hard Lumps On The Knee?

I fell on the sidewalk over a week ago. There was a lump under my knee. Now it is hard and feels like a bone protruding ( which if course I know it is not). It is fine to walk, but very tender to touch or put pressure on. Should I get medical attention or will this go away on its own? I am 50 if that makes any difference

Thanks for consulting me at HCM. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns according to latest medical practice guidelines.

It is better to get it checked at least once. But this doesn't seem to be much serious issue. It seems to be a soft tissue injury and hematoma (collection of blood in the area) along with local inflammation is causing the issue. Inflammation of tendons of muscles also cause such type of pain and inflammation.

You should apply Bengay Ultra Stretch Ointment on the area and massage it gently. Apply heat pad after that.
Apply ThermaCare HeatWraps while on your daily tasks for soothing effects and relief from symptoms.
If you feel pain Tylenol will help.
