What Can Make A Faithful Male Partner HIV Positive?

Hi, what can make a male partner hiv positive and the female negative after seven years of faithful marriage and very active sex life of thrice a week?. The man must have had the infection before meeting the woman and had viral load of 20k and cd4 count of 180 on diagnosis. Many thanks

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

These couple are called as Sero-discordant couple. About 30-40% spouses of HIV positive remains like this.
Presence STD, Genital abrasions, roomy vagina, absence of lubrication etc are supposed to play some role in these couple.
Apart from these some genetic variations like long term non-progressors and those who are not having some co-receptors like CCR5 are some of the reason.
All who took food in same place are not likely to develop amebiosis or bacterial infection at a given time. Likewise some sort of resistance play a role.
