What Can Cause Vomiting, Low Grade Fever, Diarrhea And Aching?

My family of 5 ate the same things on New Years Day. Ham, scalloped potatoes, frozen black eyed peas, and cabbage. All 5 of us were sick is about 24 to 36 hours. Severe vomiting, low grade fever, and some with diaherra and aching. Does this sound more like food poisoning? There was also a baby 3 months old in the house that is not sick. Please advise you opinion.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of all the 5 members of your family except the one who is 3 months old with vomiting, low grade fever, some with diarrhea and aching. This happened after eating Ham, Scalloped potatoes, frozen black eyed peas and cabbage on New Years day.
Yes, this looks to be food poisoning and could have been due to the foods and/or beverages that you all have taken.
I would advise you all the following:
Consult your Doctor so that a clinical evaluation and investigations of blood and stool can be given, a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole started.
Maintain the hydration properly and if vomiting is present may need intravenous fluids and antibiotics.
You can certainly send the left-over food if at all you have for analysis.
Take care.
