I have a pulsating lump in my neck. It feels like my carotid artery is enlarged. I have had an ulta sound and a ct scan. That were normal. I have been to 5 doctors and no one seems to know what it is. I had swollen lymph nodes in my neck and was using pressure with my hand to get them to drain. Could I have injured my carotid artery or displaced it by doing this? What would cause it to be enlarged? It also has a burning sensation at times.
Hi, No pressure on any lymph nodes can cause the Carotid artery to get injured or enlarge. Also, lymph node enlargement cannot be decreased by pressure to drain them. The lump that you feel must be the lymph nodes that are swollen. Your Carotid artery must be normal as CT Scan is normal. Do not worry. Lymph node swellings in the neck are very common. Just relax and observe the swellings. Over a period of time they will decrease. If not, then get an FNAC of the node done which can tell you what is in your node and treatment can then be initiated. Take care, Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
