What can cause swollen legs and sudden weight gain in a 40+ male ?

I am age 43 Male. I have very normal food habits, nothing excessive, no smoking, minimal drinking (that too mostly fine wines once in 15 days). My work however involves a lot of sitting down on the computer. I do a lot of international travel (nearly 10 days each month leading to late night flights, irregular food schedule etc). My blood tests are normal, no excessive sugar or cholestrol (although cholestrol is just at the edge). I have gained sudden weight in last 6 months. (10-15kgs) and feel very sluggish. Coz my work, I cant find time to go to the gym (used to earlier) although I try to walk everyday. Lately, I am experiencing swelling on my feet, especially after long flights and if I am unable to sleep well. My sleep pattern also seems disturbed. I am writing this mail 3am in the morning. What tests would you recommend and what could swollen feet indicate. As soon as I go for a long walk, they subside. But when I get up in morn, it is quite uncomfrotable. I have actually not needed a doctor for the last 15 yeats for anything, except a serious knee ligament surgery owing to a fall last year. In my opinion, it was this surgery that sparked off this condition as it took almost 6-7 months to fully recover, my gym exercise stopped and I am unable to get back to exercise. . Pls advise. My height is at 5.5 and werght nearly 90kgs now and I cant understand why it is increasing despite very minimal food habits. I feel very guilty about this but unable to resolve this. My age is 43 (a dangerous age) and many people around me are getting heart disease and diabetes . Just a little worried. Pls recommend the top-most lab I can get tests done in PUNE and what sort of a Doctor (specialist) should I consult. What blood tests should I get done immediately.?

I want to know i m overweight right, I have a bariactric bed and my old doctor said to elevate my legs when sleeping. I rearranged my room and now my bed is on the left room and my left leg is gone down from the severe swelling it had, but my right leg is swollen now, but if I move my bed back to the right side of the room my right leg will be smaller than my left leg and it does this everytime. I don t know what else to do . please tell me what to do please. I have a doctor whom I do see 2 times a month and my complete physical said everything is ok. I m not diabetic, my sugar is fine, my colestral is also normal, only thing is wrong she said is my thyroid she keeps setting me up for an ultrasound on my thyroid but my insurance keeps denying it. so I guess until my insurance does whatever they are suppose to do I can t do what I have to do. Help cause I m just here lost. I used to weigh 750 lbs about 8 months ago, and now if it wasn t for this one doctor I used to see named Dr. William Eli. Now I weigh 490lbs. but I m still big. what can I do about my weight now

Hi, I have been on thyroxine since the age of 10...that is over 40 years....the doses change from time to time, but recently (meaning over a few months back I was on 125mg, it did not seem to do anything for me so I put myself on 150mg and told the doctor I was doing this. She said ok. Now just had a blood test and results say its too much, now I am back on 125mg, will not know for 6 weeks whether its right amount for me as I said before it does not seem enough for me....ie still fill tired, over the last 6 months put on 2 stone in weight where I worked really hard to lost this last year and now feel sluggish and big (although I did give up cigarettes 6 months ago).....My real question on my thyroid is......which I keep asking the doctor is that although I have TSH/T4 blood tests they never really test me to see if the T4 is actually transfering it int T3 when it gets into my system, in six weeks time the doctor will be doing this as I have insisted on this particular blood test....Because if the T4 is not turning it into T3 what is the point of me taking the the thyroxine TSH I should be taking T3 Please can you advise me whether I am right or wrong.... ps I am also on a lot more medication ie asprin, statins and diltizam.....by the way I must say that over the last 3 weeks I my legs and ankles have swollen up and painful, having a eco cardiac test for that in a weeks time
