What Can Cause Constipation And Blood In Stools?

I'm a 16 year old girl, about 5'9 and 158 pounds. Sooo I had to go poo like an hour ago. I had to strain to get it out (like it was too big to go through right away) and after a little bit came out (those were blood-free) the rest came out (it was large with some bright red, fresh, blood on it). Sorry this is so detailed. Then a few more little ones came out and were normal brown and maybe a little pink to no blood at all. I don't think I've gone poo in maybe 5 days (meaning not recently where I can remember easily). I drink anywhere from 1/2 bottle to 1 1/2 bottles of water a day. I drink pop almost everyday and I also am not a big fan of fruit (although I had watermelon yesterday). I try to eat 2+ pieces of whole grain a day. Soooo yeah do you think you know why my poo had blood in it?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have constipation and the cause seems to be due to very less intake of water as well as fibres in your diet..
Other causes can be lack of physical activity, stress, side effects of certain medications, eating disorders, Irritable bowel syndrome etc..

Blood in stools seems to be due to injury to the anal mucosa due to overstraining to evacuate the stools..
You should take care of it and take proper remedies as it can lead to conditions like anal fissures and piles and can be painful and discomforting..

I would suggest you to first of all start drinking plenty of water..
Take plenty of fibres in diet and add more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and salads..
You can take fibre supplements like Docusate..
Take laxatives like Polyethylene glycol..
Do moderate workout..
You can also take walk after meals..Try to go to washroom same time in the morning everyday to try and cultivate the habit of regular bowels..

In case if still no improvement consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and he can also advise prescription drugs like Lubiprostone and Linclotide..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
