Hi,

After stopping the breast feeding till the production of milk stops completely, there is possibility for collection of some amount milk in alveoli, leading to pain, which can sometimes radiates to axilla. But your present pain which is on and off may not be because of that as you stopped giving milk 10 months before.

The pain, mostly appearing as hormones related, fluctuations of reproductive hormones can be seen around the menstrual periods which can lead to breast pain. As there are no rash or bumps the possibility of infection is less.

If the pain persists or repeats, better to consult your Gynecologist once, get examined and go for sonomammography if needed. With this the possible cause of the problem can be identified and treatment an be taken accordingly.

Pain around menstrual cycles due to hormonal effect can be relieved by taking supplements of evening primrose oil, vitamin E.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
