What Can Cause A Large Bump Under The Tongue?

A week ago I had a large bump under my tongue along the skin ridge connect tongue and mouth. A few days ago it appeared to turn into a blood blister so i attempted to drain the blood. Now I have a large white triangle shaped flap where the "bump" was. What might it possible be and is there anything I can do to get rid of it?

Hello,
I am happy to assist you. My initial question to a patient in my office would be as to the source of the bump? Was it trauma? If so, it sounds like the pocket of blood was formed and you drained it. Now you need to give it more time to heal. Rinse and keep the area clean. Warm salt water may help. If it continues to be an annoyance to you, you can have the extra tissue reshaped or removed. Dentists can use lasers, electrosurgery machines or a scaple.
If you are concerned that this may not be healing or have not had a recent dental visit, this would be a good time for a dental check up. A clinical exam would give you the best information on your situation. I hope you find this helpful. I would be glad to answer any additional questions or concerns that you may have.
