What Can Be The Effect Of Food In Windpipe?

Last night, I inhaled a piece of hamburger and I can still feel it in my lungs. It doesn't hurt, but it is very uncomfortable and it makes me feel anxious. I have tried coughing and pushing it through with wind in my windpipes but it doesn't want to come up. Will this cause an infection? Should I see a doctor? Will it ever dissolve or push its way out?

Brief answer - FOREIGN BODY ASPIRATION

Detailed answer -As per your query you have inhaled a piece of hamburger which is not hurting you , still making you uncomfortable which is a alarming situation. It is a case of foreign body aspiration which can cause from minimal symptoms to respiratory compromise as well. Aspirated piece of hamburger is placed in the wrong path and not getting its way for elimination. It will cause obstruction there and can cause chocking as well.

I would suggest you to visit ENT surgeon for this as early as you can. Get it aspirated by proper fibrooptic scan with fibrooptic tip. It is a very minor procedure. Need not to panic about it. Drink alot water.
